Why do Mormons send young people to the world to tell of Christ? The single most important part of a Mormon’s life is a relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe He is our personal Savior and saved us from death of the body and that His way if followed will lead us to salvation or eternal life or in other words life with Him forever.
Therefore, because he asked us to go to all the world and tell everyone that His way is the only way to obtain eternal life, we try to do that very thing! Therefore, every Mormon member wants to tell all people of the joy and wonder of what a Christlike life can be. That includes this life and our life after death!
You have most likely met or seen on the street young men or young women riding their bikes. Maybe they knocked on your door with an important message they wanted to share with you. We invite you to talk with them and let them tell you their message which includes this quote from scripture “This is my work and my glory to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.”
As a young man of just 20 years old I did that very thing. I sold my most prized possession, a 1958 Triumph TR 2 roadster (see picture above) and used the money to pay for my living expenses for the next two years. I quit my job and dropped out of school. I walked the streets and knocked on doors in New York and other eastern states. The best part of that was meeting people of all walks of life. The experiences were many and varied. The work was hard and yet it was the best years ever. My companion (partner) and I had lunch with the former First Lady of the United States and told her as much as we could about coming unto Christ and the coming forth of The Book of Mormon. We told our story to dozens of people like mayors of cities, cadets at West Point, a land lady in Poughkeepsie, a minister in Buffalo, an engineer from DuPont and others.
I testify to you, as we did to all those people in the eastern states, that the true Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth for all of God’s children. To embrace this gospel fully will bring you the greatest happiness that can be found anywhere on earth. That is why The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sends young men and young women to all the world. We want you have this happiness as well, so please let us tell you more.

Love the TR2. I bought a brand new 1969 MG Midget towards the end of my time in the Navy and life was good! There is nothing like putting the top down and letting the wind through your hair, especially along the Pacific Coast Highway in California.Like you, I sold the MG to help pay for my mission.
